Barataria is well known as a residential area. Many businesses have begun settling amongst the residence as there has been an increase in economic growth. Banking, administration services, retail and wholesale trade or popular food outlets such as KFC, Subway are some examples of business types. Due to economic growth, many prior land owners have begun or completed developing their spaces into rental buildings. Barataria is home to the well-known soca artist, Cassie, who sang the catchy tune named “Town Ting”. There are recreational parks available for cricket, football & another physical activities. A hot spot is the Skating ring which offers roller skating, indoor basketball, cricket and football activities. The area is well protected by the Barataria police service & San Juan fire station. A Health facility is also available for medical assistance when required. It offers ease for commuting to any part of Trinidad as transport from the Bus route, Main Road or Taxi are readily available.
El Socorro is considered as a residential area. Along the El Socorro Main Road, you can find many small businesses such as wholesale or retail, its many Chinese cuisines and gas service stations. It is well known for the El Socorro Mosque which is heavily attended on days of prayer & provides charity for the poor. All of its roads are connected to its environs such as Barataria, San Juan or Aranquez which makes it easily accessible to other business services that maybe required. This district is separated into two areas, North & South. The Southern side has grown tremendously and focuses more on the commercial activity such as Manufacturing of Paints, Beverage, Clothing, Marine and has many warehousing facilities for FMCG operations. Aranguez is home to one of the country's most popular savannahs, Aranguez Savannah. Aranguez Savannah hosts major celebrations and events including Holi, Diwali, Eid al-Fitr, Hosay, Carnival, cricket games, and The Samaan Tree Rock Festival among many other live concerts. San Juan is well known for its busy day life as many working class people use this town as an in transit junction. It serves as a main supply for environs as it facilitates business ventures such as markets, groceries, wholesale and other retail shops.
