Balandra
Balandra is well known for its beach and beach resorts. Many surfers visit this beach to partake in the surfing activities and sea bathers to just bask and tan in the sun. Balandra is a very relaxing spot in Trinidad. Some resorts also hosts carnival parties or private gatherings.
It is known as a residential area where most business activities are from small entrepreneurs such as, parlors, bars, mini marts etc. Most major activities are based in either Arima or Sangre Grande.
Toco Police services provides safety for the residents of Balandra and many patrols are completed by the police on duty.
With Future economic growth, Balandra should conform drastically.
Matura
Matura is located on the North Eastern side of Trinidad along the Toco Main Road and is known as a nesting ground for Leatherback Turtles. This is a main attraction for both locals and tourists.
Small and medium sized businesses such as guest houses, parlours, mini marts and bars are all dependent on the visiting community.
Matura also offers its beautiful bathing sites that are accompanied by its captivating scenery. The village is quite known for its fishing trade, Grouper, Kingfish and Lobster are main catches associated with this location of the ocean.
Toco
Toco is the most northeasterly village on the island of Trinidad in the County of Saint David where the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meets. Tobago is 35 kilometres to the northeast, making Toco the closest point in Trinidad to the sister island Tobago.
A popular tourist destination, the Galera Point Lighthouse in Toco was built in 1897 and today is surrounded by a park and picnic area.
Today, Toco remains sparsely populated, although the numbers have grown since the olden days. In 1980, census reports indicate that the population was about 1311. The villagers of Toco are often very friendly. With its serene atmosphere and picturesque beaches, Toco remains one of the most popular surfing and vacationing spots in Trinidad and Tobago. In Toco, there are several coconut estates. The Baldeosingh family owns one of the largest in the area. Toco is considered to be a fishing village. Locals can get an education at Toco Secondary formerly Toco Composite, Toco Roman Catholic School and Toco Anglican School.
Toco has produced successful sportsmen such as: Keishorn Walcott (Gold medal Olympic winner), Mervin Dillion (Former West Indies Fast Bowler) & Famous Soca star Patrice Roberts.
