California is a neighborhood located in Couva in the Couva–Tabaquite–Talparo region of Trinidad and Tobago. It is bordered on the West by the Point Lisas Industrial Estate and to the East by the University of Trinidad and Tobago (Point Lisas Campus). Dow Village and Esperanza Village are within California. Its football team are Central F.C.
For many years, the village was little more than a clearing in a sugarcane field. The population was mainly indentured workers of Indian origin with a smaller number of former African slaves and numbered no more than a few hundred. Couva continued to grow in size with the national census recording a figure of 3,572 persons in 1980. Couva benefits immensely from its unique location. The Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway ensures easy access to Port of Spain and San Fernando, in addition to the neighboring towns of Chaguanas, Arima and Point Fortin. Transportation, Public Service Utilities, Shopping, Recreation and Entertainment, Health Care, Businesses, Schools and Industrial Centres are readily accessible. The urban structure of Couva is similar to that of most towns in Central Trinidad with a mix of residential and commercial activity within the town centre itself, i.e. along the Southern Main Road, recently people have begun buying land and starting their businesses out of the town centre areas. Couva is the administrative and commercial centre of the region and the Point Lisas Port and Industrial Estate falls within the Greater Couva Urban Area. Most popular sites in Couva are now the Brian Lara Stadium where the CPL is held. This attracts many tourists to come sit and watch the exciting cricket matches
Freeport is a town in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It is located in west-central Trinidad, and is administered by the Couva–Tabaquite–Talparo Regional Corporation. It has a population of approximately 11,850. The Solomon Hochoy Highway splits Freeport into two, on the east and the west of the highway where you can find most commercial businesses. Known as a residential area, there are many small, medium and large businesses that have proven success through the growth of this community. Most residents have either sold properties or turned them into rental units. This community is also protected by the Freeport police service.
Gran Couva is located in Central Trinidad and Tobago. Gran Couva Main Road begins from Couva Main Road and continues up to Caparo Valley Brasso Road. There are many residential areas along the way as well as small business ventures, mostly food, bars, mini marts and other small business entities. The villagers there are known to be very quiet and traditional.
Mamoral is a small village in the region of Couva-Tabaquite-Talparo, Trinidad and Tobago. Mamoral is accessible via the Mamoral Road. Along the Mamoral Road, there are many small businesses which supports this small community. The village also has a Primary school (Mamoral RC Primary School).
Roystonia is a residential development in Perseverance, Couva approximately 15km from San Fernando, 15km from Chaguanas and 40km from Port of Spain. Roystonia lavishly sprawls the gentle plains of Couva and constantly enjoys the cool and refreshing north easterly winds. Tabaquite is a town in central Trinidad, north of Rio Claro and west of the Navet Dam. Miss Trinidad and Tobago 2015 Kimberly Singh hails from Tabaquite. Tabaquite is a primarily rural area and suffered from infrastructural neglect. It was an important cocoa bean producer. Tabaquite is well known for the Knollys Tunnel one of the only visible areas in Trinidad where once the nations Railway ran. The community has significantly developed since its neglect in prior years. Most residence have successful developed their small businesses and the community is progressing positively.
